The following photos were taken from my radio controlled
camera plane. It has an 8 ft wingspan with a wing loading of 14.5lbs per
sq. ft. I built the model from scratch back in March 1999 after being inspired
by another member in the flying club (East Sussex Soaring Association).
Three of these photos appeared in the May 2000 edition of RCM&E and
I am hoping to get them published in other modeling magazines in the future.
The camera used is an cheap, ordinary automatic camera bought from Cash
Converters. I usually fly the model as a glider but I have also flown it
with a power pod starpped to the top of the wing for flat field launches,
using an OS15 and a 9x4 prop. At this point, the wing loading is worryingly
high, but it has taken the load, and once airbourne, is a delight to fly.
I have so far flown the glider three times, taking the following photographs
of East Sussex.
